(Stuart, Iowa) — A driver is safe after floodwaters swept their vehicle off the road near Diamondhead Lake in Stuart Wednesday morning. Firefighters were called to the scene around 6:40 a.m. Officials say the driver got out with help from nearby residents before crews arrived and was not injured. Crews found the vehicle submerged in several feet of water. The incident comes after storms brought heavy rain and flooding to parts of central Iowa.
