(Atlantic) The Atlantic School Board approved an adjustment to the FY27 high school calendar to accommodate the CTE Summit.
Atlantic High School Principal Dr. James Brauer said this is the first time Green Hills AEA has hosted the summit. He said it will bring together southwest Iowa superintendents, CTE coordinators, instructors, and students representing various organizations.
Brauer said Atlantic is fortunate to be the host for the event.
The summit will be held February 15. The calendar adjustment includes a one-hour early dismissal for high school students only.
Other items approved by the board include a proposal to replace two water heaters at the Middle School; the Council Bluffs Consortium Agreement for the 2026-27 school year; the Four-Year-Old Children Contract for the 2026-27 school year; and a resolution ordering an election on March on the question of continuing to levy and impose a Voter Approved Physical Plant and Equipment Property Tax and Income Surtax. A PPEL is a specialized property tax utilized by school districts to fund long-term infrastructure, facility improvements, and major equipment purchases.
