(Denison) The Atlantic Boy’s Golf team finished sixth in a Class 3A Sectional Golf Tournament on Wednesday at Majestic Hills Golf Course in Denison.
The Trojans shot 356. Hudson McLaren and Sam Brosam led the team with 87s. Trevan Hansen and Tristan Hayes shot 91s, Roth Den Beste, 93, and Tate Niklasen carded a 95.
“We knew we were going to have to play well,” said Atlantic Head Coach Ed Den Beste. “We had three teams that had better averages than us.
“We had lots of three-putts today on several holes with large numbers,” said Den Beste. “Tristan had a tough hole on number 7, Hudson had too many three-putts, and Roth had several double bogeys. I thought Sam, and Trevan worked through some tough holes and played well. Tate played hard to keep his score in the 90s.
“This was disappointing for us and hoped to get at least an individual through and possibly the team. This was a season of learning, and have all returning except senior Cruz Weaver. We will miss him as he moves on.”
ADM won the tourney with a 302, Ballard finished second with a 322, North Polk third, 334, Bondurant-Farrar fourth, 339, Denison fifth, 352, Atlantic sixth, 356, Saydel, 447, and Perry did not have a team score.
