(Des Moines) A sweeping education bill is headed to the desk of Governor Reynolds. The proposal bans school districts from teaching about gender identity and sexual orientation in elementary schools and forces schools to tell parents if their child wants to go by a new name or pronoun. It also requires districts to remove books and other materials from their curriculum and libraries if they describe or show sexual acts—no word on when Governor Reynolds will sign the bill.
