(Clarinda) Clarinda School Officials recently announced hiring Colby Sorensen as the Cardinal’s new head wrestling coach.
Sorensen wrestled for Atlantic under Head Coach Tim Duff until his graduation in 2017, earned his degree in education at Northwest Missouri State University, coached under Tucker Weber at Glenwood, and was hired by the Red Oak School District, where he served as assistant wrestling coach under Tiegen Podliska.
The sport of wrestling runs deep in the Sorensen family. Colby’s father Al served as the Head Coach for the Walnut Warriors and was an assistant at Atlantic. Sorensen says he learned a lot from his father over the years.
Coach Sorensen inherits a young team at Clarinda, with everyone returning from last season.
Coach Sorensen says he is grateful for the opportunity at Clarinda and appreciates his past wrestling experiences. He is looking forward to his new position as the Clarinda Elementary Physical Education Teacher and his Head Wrestling Coach duties.
