(Harlan) Harlan edged Atlantic for the team title at the Koos Invitational Track meet at Harlan on Thursday. The Cyclones won two events, finished second in five others, and scored 134 points.
Lindsey Sonderman won the 3000 (11:00.97) and 1500 (5:10.94) to lead Harlan. Runner-up finishes went to Aubrey Schwieso in the 200 meters (28.15), Jenna Gessert in the 800 (2:38.61), and Distance Medley with Aubrey Schwieso, Abby Broeckelman, Ava Monson, and Sonderman (4:35.39). Lily Schechinger in the Long Jump (14-11.25), and Cameron Springer in the Discus (107-00).
Atlantic won six events, finished runner-up in three others, and scored 128 points. Hailey Huffman topped the field in the 200 Meters (28.12). Ava Rush championed the 400 meters in (1:00.88), and teammate Mariah Huffman finished second (1:06.03). Claire Pellett turned in another solid performance for the Trojans with wins in the 800 (2:31.78) and ran on two winning relays. The Distance Medley scored a top finish with Hailey Huffman, Lila Wiederstein, Nicole Middents, and Pellett (4:31.64). The 4×400 meter relay team of Mariah Huffman, Middents, Pellett, and Rush topped the field in a time of (4:15.28). The 800 Sprint Medley Relay team rounded out the wins in a time of (1:54.40). The Baton carriers were Hailey Huffman, Jayci Reed, Chloe Mullenix, and Ava Rush. Reed finished second in the 100-meter hurdles (16.22), and the Shuttle Hurdle Relay team of Reed, Chloe Mullenix, Aliyah Williams, and Morgan Botos ran second in (1:14.27).
Council Bluffs, Abraham Lincoln finished third with 118 points. Abby LaSale won the 400-meter hurdles (1:08.13), and the 4×200-meter relay (1:51.33), and Aubrey Sandbothe won the long jump (15-01.00).
Lewis Central finished fourth with 112 points. L.C. championed the 4×100 meter relay (53.02), and Elise Thramer and Jordyn Matiyow finished first and second in the Shot Put (35-09.00), and (35-02.00).
Treynor won three events and finished fifth with 106 points. Clara Teigland won the 100 meters (13.44) and 100-meter hurdles (15.81). The Shuttle Hurdle Relay team of Aubree James, Nora Konz, Zoey Zadalis, and Teigland won the Shuttle Hurdle Relay in a time of (1:10.08).
Earlham finished sixth with 94 points. The Cardinals, with Taylor Rodgers, Hannah Frank, Mackenzie Harger, and Olivia Spurling, won the 4×800-meter relay (10:30.05), and Amanda Smith finished first in the high jump, (4-10.00).
Council Bluffs, Thomas Jefferson finished seventh with 17 points.
