(Atlantic) The Atlantic School Board approved the contract for new Middle School Principal Scot Aden on Wednesday morning.
Atlantic Schools Superintendent Steve Barber says twelve individuals applied for the position, four of the candidates interviewed in front of a parent group, student group, teacher group, and administrative committee.
Barber says Mr. Aden is currently the Cherokee Middle School Principal, where he’s served the role successfully over the past five years. Before that, he served as the High School Principal and had some experience in other school districts. “Mr. Aden has a positive outlook on things and can create positive relationships with all community stakeholders is what made him a step above the rest of the candidates,” said Barber.
Scot Aden takes over the position following the resignation of Josh Rasmussen, who accepted the superintendent’s Job at the ACGC Community School Districts. “We’re excited about Mr. Aden coming to the district and leading our middle school,” said Steve Barber. “We thank Mr. Rasmussen for the many years he committed to the Atlantic School District, and we wish him only the best moving forward. We think we will make a smooth transition with Mr. Aden given the experience that he has.”
Mr. Aden’s first day on the job is July 1.
