(Atlantic) Earlham’s Jayden Dickson and teammate Dominic Braet finished one-two at the Atlantic Cross Country Invitational. Dickson ranked second in Class 1A clocked a 16:31.60, and Braet ranked third in 1A, legged out a 16:45.30.
Earlham finished second with 92-points, Owen Michael finished 22nd, Carson Maly, 32nd, and Blake Tiemeyer, 35th, balanced out the scoring for the Cardinals.
ADM won the meet with 68-points, led by Cooper Greenslade, 3rd, Quinton Kimrey, 6th, Torrin Timmerman, 9th, Ryan Entriken, 24th, and Hubie Chaplin, 26th.
Winterset finished third with 98 points. Mason Back led the Huskies with an 8th place finish, Blake Freese, 13th, Sam Hensley, 16th, Ethan Easter, 20th, and Eli Cowman, 41st.
Drew Engler and Zane Berg led Atlantic with 10th and 14th place finishes. The Trojans finished fourth place in the 11-team field with 136-points. Bennett Whetstone ran his best race of the season, and the sophomore finished 19th overall.
“Bennett was tremendous,” said Atlantic Head Coach Dan Vargason. “That was hands down his career-best performance, and not just the time, but the guts. He had this look on his face the entire time, like he was chasing somebody. Come to find out; he said he had a tough week, and he took out on the course.”
Devon Fields finished 43rd, and Tyrell Williams finished 50th place to round out the scoring for Atlantic.
