(Atlantic) Cass County Public Health Nurse Linda Edelman says 46.8-percent of Cass County residents are fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Edelman admits that’s lower than what they would like to see.
Edelman says the highest percentages of vaccinated residents fall within those aged 65 and older, and the lowest vaccination rate is those between 18 and 50-years of age. She says the goal would be to vaccinate 70-percent of the county residents. “The goal is to get as many people vaccinated as we can, and there some people that have had just one shot, and we’re encouraging those people to get their second shot, as well as encouraging the younger population to come in.”
Edelman says points to various reasons are hesitant to get the vaccination. “There are people that don’t believe in vaccination, negative media, and the people that have limited access, for example, job conflicts, etc.,” said Edelman.
