(Exira) “Stronger Together” is the theme for the 156th Annual 4th of July Celebration in Exira.
The Exira Community Club came up with the idea for this year’s parade. “I think Katie Wheeler was the one that found it and we just all thought ‘Oh my gosh that’s really good.’ It’s kind of fitting for this year and what the country and the community has been through with the virus and everything. We just thought “Stronger Together” was a good theme.”
The theme was announced during their annual 4th of July Kickoff on Saturday. Abby Rasmussen says after having to cancel last year’s kickoff, the Exira Community Club was glad to be able to hold it this year. “It’s been a fun event for everybody to come and we can let the community. We can let people know what’s been going on with certain businesses and events and make those 4th of July announcements. We try to have a nice dinner and some form of entertainment and this year the dueling pianos was definitely a big hit.”
Don and Mary Greving will serve as grand marshals for the parade. The Exira-EHK girls basketball team has been named junior grand marshal.
