(Des Moines) The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning of western, central, and northern Iowa.
The Warning goes into effect from noon to 8:00 p.m.
Forecasters expect southwest winds from 20-to-30 miles per hour with gusts up to 35-to-50 miles per hour. Coupled with the low humidity of 20-to-25 percent could ignite fires that could spread rapidly and exhibit fire behavior.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
