(Atlantic) The Atlantic Community School district’s latest COVID data dropped from a 13-percent positivity rate on March 4 to a 4-percent positivity rate on March 18.
For the week ending on March 4, one staff member and 11 students were quarantined, and one staff member and five students were recovering from the virus. For the week ending March 11, two staff members and nine students were quarantined, and no students or staff were positive were recovering from the virus. There were no positive cases for the week ending March 18, no staff members, and seven students quarantined.
Schools Superintendent Steve Barber says on April 5 and the mask policy will go back to the original language of encouraged to wear for the lower level students and expected for the Middle and High School students when social distancing cannot be achieved.
Mr. Barber says while the vaccinations and low positivity rates are all good news, students and staff must continue to take the necessary individual steps to have a successful and safe final quarter.
