(Audubon) The City of Audubon intends to keep their police force instead of sharing law enforcement with the Sheriff’s Office.
The City Council came to a consensus on their law enforcement needs at a special meeting this week. “They saw that there was really no savings involved and if they are going to pay the same amount they want to be able to keep control of the situation.”
City Clerk Joe Foran reveals there have been 15 applicants for the position of Police Chief. “The applications are supposed to be coming in until the end of March. They are hoping to have a recommendation for the April 12th Meeting.”
Monday night the Council also approved advertising for a new officer.
Elsewhere, the Council approved drafting an ordinance to make the intersection of South Street and 3rd Avenue a three-way stop. The stop sign would be added for eastbound traffic.
