(Greenfield) CAM and Nodaway Valley School District patrons will vote on a new Revenue Purpose Statement today. Paul Croghan shared Superintendent for the Nodaway Valley, and CAM school district’s said the purpose is to direct the two districts’ spending of the state’s penny sales tax revenues.
Croghan says voters in all 99 counties approved the sales tax to upgrade school facilities without increasing property taxes. The SILO was originally intended to last 10 years. In 2008, the Legislature changed the SILO local option into a state penny sales tax to benefit all school districts. In 2019, the Legislature further extended the state penny.
The state will continue to collect the penny on retail purchases through December 31, 2050, and will continue to send the proceeds to all Iowa school districts.
The voting sites in the CAM School District are at the Anita and Cumberland Community Buildings. The polling center in the Nodaway Valley School District is at the Adair County Health and Fitness Center in Greenfield. Polls open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m.
