(Denison) A Crawford County woman has been charged with First Degree Murder.
At approximately 9:15 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2021, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous call from a concerned citizen about the welfare of a friend. When deputies arrived at 504 East Fulton in Dow City, Iowa, they discovered a male subject who was unresponsive and bleeding.
The Dow City Ambulance and EMS were notified, and the male was transported to the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison where he was pronounced deceased. The male subject has been identified as Jeremy Frank, age 46, of Dow City. Frank died of a single gunshot wound, and an autopsy is pending at the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny.
Investigators have charged Frank’s live-in girlfriend Beth Guzman, age 44, of Dow City, with First-Degree Murder.
This investigation is being conducted by the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations, the Crawford County Attorney’s Office. Assisting with the incident include the Denison Police Department, Dow City EMS and Crawford County Memorial Hospital Ambulance Service. This is an ongoing investigation, and no further details are being released at this time.
