(Des Moines) Iowa Governor Reynolds announced today nearly 276,000 doses of COVID-19 had been administered in Iowa since December 14. She stated more than 137,000 individuals received their first dose, and 70,000 Iowans received both doses and are now fully vaccinated.
The Governor says some counties are getting the vaccine administered speedily and efficiently, while other counties are struggling.
Reynolds is also aware many Iowans are frustrated with the scheduling process and frustrated with making an appointment.
The Governor says the best way to understand how or when to make an appointment with a provider near you is through the website coronavirus.iowa.gov. Reynolds understands not everyone has internet access or chooses not to use them. To assist Iowans 65-years of age and older, the Iowa Department of Public Health is partnering with the area agency on aging for their assistance. They’ll answer questions; assist with scheduling and coordinating transportation for older Iowans who are homebound. The IDPH will release the information on accessing this assistance on Friday.
