(Atlantic) Atlantic Parks and Recreation is hosting their first annual Snow Sculpture Building Contest.
Parks and Recreation Director Bryant Rasmussen said we have a lot of snow to go around and so they decided to do this pop up program to get people out and about and also work on the 120 hour outdoor challenge.
“While you’re outside you have the opportunity to build something out of the snow; your mind can do whatever you want whether it’s a snowman or whether you want to actually make some kind of sculpture,” said Rasmussen. “We already have several submissions and they are all over the board, so it’s been kind of fun to see those coming in.”
The Snow Sculpture contest is going on throughout the month of February.
“You can build it at your house, you can build it in any of our parks, but you take a picture of it, give it a title and give us your name and either do a direct message on Facebook or you can email it to brasmussen@cityofatlantic.com and then we’ll put together a photo folder of everything and push it out toward the end of the month and allow people to see the different sculptures that have been made around the City of Atlantic and they can vote on their favorite one,” explained Rasmussen.
Rasmussen said they are working with the Chamber to give $25 in Chamber Bucks to the favorite Snow Sculpture.
