(Adair Co.) A man was arrested for Theft in the 1st Degree in Adair County.
On January 26th, at approximately 11:29 a.m., a witness had called in a vehicle accident at the intersection of the I-80 eastbound off ramp and Stuart Road. The witness stated the driver fled on foot. Upon arrival, the officers observed a four door sedan in the east ditch of Stuart Road, wedged between the metal pillars of the sign. The vehicle did not have a rear plate, but there was a temporary tag in the rear window from Utah and a plate in the front windshield. Officers later observed the male that witnesses had described as the driver heading towards Phillips 66 and enter the business. Officers made contact with the male, identified as 31-year-old Manuel Duran-Arellanes who was eventually placed under arrest for Theft 1st. The vehicle reported stolen was a 2019 Nissan Versa with a value of over $10,000. Duran-Arellanes was held in the Adair County Jail on $10,000 cash or surety bond.
In other activity, Joel William Blazek, 20, of Greenfield, was arrested on a warrant on January 27th for failing to comply with the conditions of his release. Blazek had been charged with Sexual Abuse 3rd Degree, Child Endangerment and Lascivious Acts with a Child – Solicitation. Blazek was held in the Adair County Jail on $35,000 cash or surety bond.
Austin James Hill, 33, of West Des Moines was arrested January 29th on a warrant for Driving While License Denied or Revoked. Hill was held on $1,000 cash or surety bond.
Jason Eugene Burg, 46, of Creston, was cited and released on January 30th for OWI 1st Offense.
