(Grant) Grant firefighters responded to a house fire at 201 Maple Avenue on Tuesday evening.
Grant Fire Chief Greg Vetter says the call went out at around 8:46 p.m. He says the first engine arrived at the scene at 8:55 p.m.
Chief Vetter says the resident arrived home and spotted the fire.
Vetter says the home did sustain smoke damage. Firefighters rescued two pets from inside the residence, and no one was hurt.
Vetter says faulty electrical wiring in the attic caused the fire.
The Grant Fire Department was assisted by Griswold Fire and Rescue, Elliott firefighters, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Alliant Energy, the American Red Cross, and the Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency.
