(Audubon) Just one item appeared on the agenda for a special city council meeting in Audubon Monday night.
The Council acted on a resolution to change ownership for the property at the former Landus building. “That was the city doing a transfer of the Landus building that the fire association has identified as their new fire station.”
City Clerk Joe Foran says the transfer was necessary for funding purposes. “The city had ownership of it and now we are switching back to the fire association so they can qualify for some grants.”
Plans for the new building were unveiled in August of 2019. The proposed two-level facility is a seven-bay, 80×200 square foot building to be located at the site of the former Landaus Cooperative office building along Highway 71.
The building will be a complete drive-thru facility with a weight room, kitchen, meeting room, showers, and locker room, and an area to house the bunker gear and tools, with a training and storage area on the second level. The total cost of the project is around $2 million.
