(Corning) School districts throughout Iowa return-to-learn plan to meet the Iowa Department of Education guidelines are due on July 1. The projects must show how public and nonpublic schools would meet the challenges of the 2020-2021 school year.
All schools must ensure that remote learning options are available for all students. Southwest Valley Schools Superintendent Chris Fenster and staff members are putting the final touches on the school district’s return to learn plan. However, the program right now is to return to the classroom this fall. “We plan to set-up safety guidelines for our students and faculty, but the plan is to return to the classroom this fall with as few limitations as possible,” said Fenster.
The IDPH guidelines in place help student’s catch-up for the learning they may have missed during school closures. Other stipulations include; Integrating public health strategies, and have the ability to move between on-site and remote learning as needed.
All districts and nonpublic schools must submit a Return-to-Learn Plan through the Department’s Consolidated Accountability and Support Application (CASA). Iowa schools will potentially reopen in stages rather than all at once in the fall.
