(Des Moines) Iowa lawmakers gaveled back into session this week and went right to work. This week Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds signed legislation restoring Felon Voting Rights.
Griswold Republican District 21 State Representative Tom Moore says the bill sets the standard for how convicted felons can vote upon discharge of their sentence. He said person convicted of certain felonies such as rape, murder, child endangerment resulting in death, election misconduct in the first-degree will never be able to vote unless they are pardoned by the Governor.
Other voting rights can be restored upon discharge of their sentence, which includes restitution to an offended individual.
