(Pottawattamie Co.) Today, the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Deputy Association (PCSDA) announced their candidate endorsement for the next Pottawattamie County Sheriff.
After careful discussion and study, PCSDA members have voted in super-majority to endorse and recommend to the citizens of Pottawattamie County, Lieutenant Andy Brown for the next Pottawattamie County Sheriff.
When Sheriff Jeff Danker announced his retirement as Sheriff after 28 years, the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Deputy Association — more than any other— understood the transformative nature of this Sheriff’s election.
Association President Brandon Ramsey told KSOM/KS95 News, “This is a big deal obviously to us because it’s been 28 years and we’ve had the same Sheriff so this is all new for us, but we really believe Andy has all of the tools, experience and leadership abilities to continue guiding us in the right direction.”
In the past few months members have been queried by the residents of Pottawattamie County as to their recommendation of a Sheriff’s candidate. It was in this environment that the Association voted to poll their members to select an endorsement for this critically important position.
The Association stated in the press release, “Lt. Brown has the leadership capacity, the relationships, and most importantly the courage and integrity to lead the Sheriff’s Office in this time of great change and crisis. The next few years may become the most challenging era for our Office and employees. The implications of COVID-19, reduced public budgets, and tumultuous change over the next few years will require a leader with unprecedented vision, stamina, and coalition building.
Lt. Brown has demonstrated over the past 21 years, the ability to build new programs, to experience all facets of our Office, and to lead. Coupled with his service as a Road Patrol Deputy, he also previously served as a Detention Officer, a critical but overlooked position in our agency that keeps our County safe by jailing law violators. Additionally, he has been a volunteer Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician, gaining critical experience in the field and enabling him to relate to our county Fire Departments — arguably the agencies the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office works with the most. In his current position as Lieutenant of the Court Security Division, Lt. Brown has shown versatility and relationship building in a complex and ever-changing environment of lawyers, judges and members of the public who access the Courthouse.
The PCSDA urges the citizens of Pottawattamie County to vote for Lieutenant Andy Brown in the June 2nd Republican primary. Our members believe that your vote for Lt. Brown will ensure a professional and responsive Sheriff’s Office in the future.”
The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Deputy Association (PCSDA) represents and consists of employees of the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office, and is dedicated to providing fair representation based on the Peace Officer Bill of Rights. The PCSDA was also organized to give Deputy Sheriffs and other employees of the PCSO, the opportunity to collectively bargain with the County of Pottawattamie for wages, benefits, and working conditions. The primary members and the governing board is made up of the Deputies that respond to the public’s calls for help.
