(Des Moines) Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced today 176 new positive cases for a total of 3,924 positive cases.
There are 842 negative cases today for a total of 25,338 negative cases.
Of the 29,262 Iowans who have been tested for COVID-19, 13-percent have tested positive compared to a national rate of 18.4-percent as reported by the CDC.
As of yesterday, 77-percent of all positive cases were among adults age 18 to 40 and middle age adults from 41-60. 22-percent were older and elderly adults from 61 to over 80 years of age. 1-percent were children under the age of 18.
Among all Iowans with COVID 19, 10-percent are staff and residents of long-term care facilities, 16-percent are health care workers, and 29-percent work in manufacturing facilities.
As of yesterday, 11 of Iowa’s 99 counties accounted for 81-percent of all COVID-19 cases. 5 counties alone had 52-percent of the state’s positives and 51 counties had 0 to 4 cases each.
1,492 Iowans have recovered, for a recovery rate of 38 percent.
Today, the Department of Public Health has confirmed one additional long term care facility outbreak, ManorCare Health Services in Linn County, bringing the total to 12 long term care facility outbreaks. Of the positive cases of long term care facility residents to date, 65 have recovered, 84 remain ill, and 24 are currently hospitalized.
An additional 6 deaths have been reported, for a total of 96 deaths.
As of yesterday, 85-percent of all deaths are among older and elderly adults. 51 percent were residents of long-term care facilities, 12-percent were middle age adults 41 to 60, and 2-percent were adults ages 18-40.
