(Atlantic) Two rural Griswold men face multiple charges including going armed with intent in connection with an incident in rural Cass County last week.
Steven Darrell Funk, 54, of Griswold, initially cited into court for False Imprisonment, is now being cited into court on an additional charge of Aiding and Abetting in the commission of going Armed with Intent. Mark Funk, 61, also from Griswold, is charged with Going Armed with Intent.
According to the Complaint and Affidavit, a female traveling with her husband, and two small children in the area of 640th Street and Tucson Road, called Cass County Communications and reported her and her family were being held at gunpoint.
When the deputy arrived, he observed three males standing in the roadway. One of the men identified as Mark possessed a shotgun. The deputy immediately secured the weapon. It was determined through interviews of all of the parties involved, that Mark and Steve Funk became suspicious about the victim’s vehicle traveling through the area. The report states, Mark Funk, was driving a 2012 Ford F250 Super Duty pickup and Steve Funk operating a 2004 Trailblazer, surrounded the victim’s vehicle and made it come to a complete stop by “boxing it in.” Mark Funk’s pickup was parked in front, and Steve Funk’s Trailblazer was parked behind.
The victims allege both suspects exited their vehicles and surrounded them. The victims told authorities Mark Funk pointed a firearm at them. Both Mark and Steve Funk admitted to “boxing in” the car.
Authorities transported Mark Funk to the Cass County Jail. He posted bail the following day.
