(Harlan) Glenwood and Harlan will have a rematch of a game the Cyclone boys won 72-66 right before Christmas. We’ll air it on KSOM as part of a girl/boy doubleheader Tuesday night.
Harlan erased a 15-point deficit in their last outing to beat Lewis Central. Coach Mitch Osborn says, “It was a great comeback and a great test for our young men to step up with some adversity and and they came back and fought.”
Coach Mitch Osborn’s squad is 7-1 with their only loss being to Abraham Lincoln. Harlan features four seniors and three of them are the top three scorers on the team. Connor Bruck averages 16.7 points and is shooting 52.9% from three-point range. Johnathan Monson averages 13 points and 10 rebounds per game. Michael Heithoff has made 56.5% from the field and averages 11.9 points per game. “Connor Bruck at point guard has just done an outstanding job and he came off the bench for us last year. Michael Heithoff at one of our forward spots is the same way, he came off the bench for us and he’s been rock solid. Johnathan Monson is our only returning starter from last year. He’s been outstanding. He played substantial minutes for us last season and is having a great year.”
Osborn calls Glenwood and outstanding team. “Ryan Blum is one of the top players in not just Southwest Iowa, but in the state in Class 3A.” Zach Carr is another key weapon for the Rams, “He’s a two-year starter and played as sophomore too. Zach is a premier point guard.”
