(Harlan) Harlan’s Steve Daeges has guided the Cyclones to 16 state tournament appearance including three state championships. The Harlan native has won 704 career games despite not becoming a head baseball coach until he was 39-years-old.
Daeges began his career as a head football coach in Nebraska. Since taking over the Harlan baseball program he’s climbed into the top 25 all-time in Iowa for coaching wins and is in the top ten among active coaches. Daeges has won state championships with Harlan in 1996, 2003, and 2016. Under his guidance the Cyclones qualified for eight straight state tourneys from 2011 to 2018.
