(Atlantic) The Atlantic softball team continues preseason drills ahead of their season opener on Monday. The 2020 squad return a lot of experience with two exceptions; shortstop and right field.
Shortstop Baylee Newell, and right fielder, Karsyn Rush are both lost to graduation. Atlantic Head Coach Terry Hinzman admits these are tough shoes to fill.
Hinzmann plans to shuffle some players into different positions to fill those gaps.
Hinzmann mentions several younger players pushing for positions and playing time.
Hinzmann says Maddie Botos and McKenzie Waters add experience to the outfield.
Coach Hinzmann says everybody looks good hitting and fielding in practice. He says the real test comes down to how a player performs game situations when everything is on the line.
Atlantic travels to Lewis Central on Monday, and hosts Denison-Schleswig on Tuesday, and Clarinda on Thursday.
