(Anita) If a CAM activity is taking pl ace, you can bet Stacey Platt and her kids will be there.
From the star athletes to the last one on the end of the bench, Platt wants to show support for all of the hard work that the kids put in. “I like to support the kids because I think it’s good for all people to be recognized for their dedication, commitment, and hard work that they put into things. I think it’s especially important to show support to the young men and women who put in countless hours practicing and working to become better individuals as well as athletes.”
Plus she’s happy to have this type of a positive environment for her children to grow up in. “I have two elementary aged kids and they love sports. We try to make it a point to make some type of contact with the players after each game. I think it’s important that my kids build a type of relationship with these players. It gives them someone to look up to. It also helps show the players that fans ranging from old to young are coming to support them. CAM has a lot of role models. My kids look up to a lot of them and I’m really grateful for that.”
She lists Thomas Hensley, Allison Spieker, Zoey Baylor, and Lane Spieker as fan favorites in the Platt household, but it is a very long list. Supporting the Cougars is much more than just a hobby for Platt, it’s something she’s extremely dedicated to and honored to be a part of. “We have a lot of really great fans out there. I absolutely love supporting all of the CAM students. I feel honored to be considered a loyal fan. I support it whether it is a sport, a musical, or a fundraiser. If I have a chance to support something I’m definitely going to do it. I’m just proud to be a part of the CAM family.”
Platt notes it is tough to see the graduates go each year, but looks forward to getting to know the next wave of students. Platt and the rest of the Cougar faithful have had many prideful moments over the last decade. She points to the 2017 state baseball tournament among them and is especially looking forward to watching her niece play high school softball for the first time this summer. She also wanted to make mention of all the great coaches CAM has and the work that they do.
Other CAM fans that received some mention include but aren’t limited to: Chris Spieker, Mike Plagman, Rob Ticknor, the Chester family, Dave and Julie Williamson, Lyn Lambertsen, Fr. Al Sherbo, Doc Wessels, and Dan Crozier. Four schools remain in our series honoring some of the area’s most loyal fans. On deck is Randy Lange, of Audubon. Richie Anderson, for Atlantic, is in the hole.
