(Greenfield) Nodaway Valley is undefeated in girls basketball heading into a big showdown with Mount Ayr on Tuesday night. One of several key reasons for the Wolverine’s unblemished start has been the play of senior Alyssa Davis.
Davis ranks second on the team in scoring at 14.1 points per game. She also averages 6.3 rebounds and 3.0 steals per contest. Davis had her best scoring output of her career in the team’s last game with 29 points in a 72-67 overtime win against Martensdale-St. Marys. She made four 3-pointers in the victory. Davis leads the team in three-pointers made and in free-throw percentage where she’s made 8/9 attempts.
Davis has also been quite the force on the softball diamond in recent years. As a junior she hit three home runs and drove in 29 runs. She had four homers and 25 RBI as a sophomore. She’s hit over .300 in each of the last two seasons.

Proudest achievement: Receiving first-team all conference honors my sophomore year of basketball.
Favorite quote/best advice from a coach: My coaches (Brian Eisbach and Amy Sivadge) always say, “You can’t beat a team that doesn’t get tired.”
Biggest lessons you’ve learned from sports: There is no “I” in team. You have to work together with your peers to do things all throughout life, so I’d say that is the biggest lesson I have learned from sports over the years.
Goals for your senior year: Winning the POI conference in basketball this year is the main goal at the moment.
