(Adair Co.) The Adair County Board of Supervisors held its second public hearing on proposed Ordinance #41, which regulates the siting, construction, operation, and decommissioning of data centers and cryptocurrency mining facilities in unincorporated Adair County.
The proposed ordinance would require data centers to be at least 1,000 feet from property lines and 2,600 feet from occupied homes. It also establishes noise standards, permanent foundation requirements, decommissioning requirements, and financial assurances.
The supervisors once again heard several public comments, with some residents supporting the ordinance and others expressing concerns that it does not go far enough.
No action was taken on the ordinance. The supervisors will decide at a future meeting whether to hold a third reading or extend the current moratorium on data centers.
