Woodward Residents Raise Concerns Over Microsoft Data Center Proposal
(Woodward, IA) — A proposed Microsoft data center is drawing concerns from some Woodward residents. Microsoft recently purchased about 600 acres in the Woodward Eco Business Park. The city canceled its regular council meeting Monday night and instead held a residents-only community meeting about the proposal. More than 200 residents attended, and several raised concerns about potential impacts on water resources, the environment and quality of life. One attendee was removed by security during the meeting. Microsoft says plans for the site remain in the very early stages, however, they said the project would bring dozens of jobs and would not impact local utility costs.
