(Undated) — October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and a new report shows domestic violence continues to be a problem in Iowa. Ruxandra Marcu with Violence Free Iowa says their latest report examines instances in Iowa last year where domestic violence turned deadly.
Marcu says at least 28 Iowans were killed in instances of domestic violence, and the aftermath of those homicides reaches beyond the perpetrator and the victim.
Violence Free Iowa’s Fiscal Year 2025 Domestic Violence Homicide Report finds that of those victims, five were minors younger than five years old.
