(Audubon, IA) — A district title is on the line on Friday night as Coon Rapids Bayard visits #1 Audubon. With the Wheelers going out of the district next week, the winner will have the number one seed in 8 Man, District 9.
Audubon is coming off an 84-8 win over Glidden Ralston. Junior Paxton Beane had an interception for a TD and a punt return for another score and would have had another one if not for a Wheeler penalty. Head Coach Sean Birks says he is a big play type of guy and is really versatile
The Wheelers have cruised in their six victories — winning by a combined score of 444 to 65 and an average score of 74 to 11. However, with this game Birks says this team must not take anybody lightly
Birks says that he wants to see how his team will respond when it faces adversity
CRB has a lot of guys who can make plays — Tucker Lewis at QB; Andrew McAlister and Caden Oswald combined have over 1,000 rushing yards; Oswald and Bryce Lewis have a combined 48 catches for over 600 yards and 14 TD. Birks says the Crusaders are really aggressive
Coon Rapids Bayard is coming off a 42-14 loss to #3 Woodbine and there was a good reason for it — turnovers. The Crusaders committed 4 and the Tigers committed none. CRB Head Coach Nathan Lindsay
Lindsay says that his football team will have to win the battle in the trenches to beat Audubon
The Wheelers QB Aiden Kjergaard had 55 carries for 735 yards and 18 TD. He has the ability to take it to the house every time he touches the football and Lindsay wants to avoid the big plays
Lindsay says its a big opportunity for his football team
