(Avoca) AHSTW Head Coach Davis Pattee says the focus this week is getting healthy and elevating the Vikings’ execution to the highest level possible. The 3-3 Vikings host 1-4 Mount Ayr Friday night.
AHSTW is looking to rebound after a close 19-18 loss to Southwest Valley last week.
With two regular-season games remaining, Coach Pattee says the Vikings are hungry to finish the season strong.
Pattee says Mount Ayr’s 1-4 record is deceiving. He says the Raiders have the best overall roster of any team the Vikings have faced so far this season.
Mount Ayr is a run-heavy team, with 1,287 rushing yards compared to 220 passing yards.
Dyson Thompson leads the Raiders with 93 carries for 569 yards, averaging 6.1 yards per carry. Pattee says Thompson is probably the best all-around player in the district.
Pattee also says Drayden Thompson is another player the Vikings will need to key on. Quarterback Adler Reed can also run the football, with 71 carries for 422 yards and five touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Taylen Hansen leads the Vikings’ rushing attack with 46 carries for 309 yards, while Kooper Krummel has 52 carries for 258 yards this season.
