(Treynor, IA) — First place is on the line in Class 1A, District 8 as #5 Underwood visits #6 Treynor. It is not a district title game but the winner will have the upper hand to be one.
Treynor is coming off a 21-6 win over Shenandoah — it appears that Junior Kratyn Dirks has won the starting QB job. He got his first start last week and was solid, going 14 of 22 passing for 122 yards and 2 TD. Head Coach Jeff Casey says he feels better about the QB position this week than last week
Junior Finn Mieska ran for 166 yards on 25 carries while Shenandoah could not run it — Joe O’Rourke was held to 37 yards rushing and Gabe Buttry was held to just 21
Treynor will have come through against the run this week against Underwood who has two strong backs in Charlie Myers and River Allen
Nash Mitchell has thrown for 789 yards, 11 TD and 3 INT and has spread it around — four different receivers are in double figures in receptions.
Casey says that the Underwood defense is strong as well and all 11 players like to close on the football

Underwood has been solid from the start at QB while Treynor has not but Mechaelsen says its impressive what they have done despite rotating guys at the position
Treynor has Brock Casey at receiver with 28 catches for 170 yards and 2 TD and Mieska has run for 544 yards and 2 TD. Mechaelsen says that both guys put pressure on their defense
Mecahaelsen says the battle up front will be tough
