(Guthrie Center, IA) — The winning tradition has remained at ACGC despite new head coach William Shull taking the job this offseason.
Through three weeks and two district games, a team has yet to finish within striking distance of the Chargers; most recently, the Nodaway Valley Wolverines were kept scoreless through all four quarters as ACGC continued to punch in rushing touchdowns with the likes of Ryder Cline, Will Skram, and quarterback Andrew Baumert. ACGC’s tough defense capped off the game with a pick six from senior Cole Van Meter.
The Chargers now look toward the 1-3 Mt. Ayr Raiders, and coach Shull says a bit of luck has kept his players with a clean bill of health:
ACGC and Mt. Ayr have formed a friendly rivalry over recent years, with the teams clashing twice in 2025; once in the regular season, and once more in the second round of the Class A postseason. Coach Shull says Mt. Ayr could very well be the best 1-3 team in the state:
