(Shelby) The 44th annual Carstens Farm Days will be held September 12th and 13th at the historic Carstens 1880 Farmstead, just south of I-80 Exit 34 near Shelby.

The two-day event celebrates and preserves Iowa’s agricultural history, featuring more than 250 vintage tractors and implements, along with steam engines, gas “hit and miss” engines, antique cars and trucks.
Visitors can watch traditional farm demonstrations throughout the weekend, including threshing, antique tractor plowing, corn picking, straw baling, corn binding, blacksmithing and a working sawmill.
A parade featuring classic cars, tractors, trucks and farm implements will be held at 2 p.m. both days. The Flatwater Drifters, an all-women old-time string band, will also perform before the parade.
Farm Days will feature nearly 100 vendors selling crafts, tools, toys and other items. A special quilt show will showcase quilts and other handmade projects, with raffle tickets available for a hand-stitched quilt and three miniature barns.
Food will be available throughout the weekend, including pancake breakfasts at 6:30 a.m. both days. A pulled pork dinner will be held Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The ham ball dinner will be served from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. Staley’s Chicken will be served Saturday evening, with proceeds supporting maintenance at the farmstead.
Farm Days runs from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days. Admission is $10 per day for everyone age nine and older.
