(Treynor, IA) — Two area teams collide in a Non District game tonight as Riverside visits #9 Treynor.
The Bulldogs are 1-0 after a 56-6 win over Red Oak in Week Zero. Riverside pounded out 275 yards on the ground led by Sophomore Mason Houser with 14 carries for 107 yards and 4 TD. Cole Jeppesen added 4 carries for 80 yards and a score plus he returned a punt 54 yards for a TD. QB Peyton Amdor only threw the ball three times and added 5 carries for 65 yards and 2 TD. Amdor won a wide open QB battle during practice to win the job and new Head Coach Tyler Johannsen says his leadership and command of the offense separated him from the others
Johannsen is also going to utilize Jeppesen in a lot of different ways this season
Houser did not play on offense last year because of injuries but he will go both ways this year. Grant Richardson has stood out early on the Defensive End. Johannsen is relying on others on that D Line

For Treynor, this is their opening game of the season. Gone are offensive playmakers QB Ethan Hill and RB Jett Sornson. When we talked to Head Coach Jeff Casey on our KSOM High School Preview Show, he was not quite sure who his QB was going to be. Senior Riley Lauver got the majority of the snaps in last week’s scrimmage; Junior Kratyn Dirks got some work as well; Sophomore Gaitlin Dea and Freshman Tracen Frain have not been dismissed entirely
Senior Bryce McIntosh will take over at the primary running back spot — unlike Sornson, he brings more power to the position instead of speed
On defense, McIntosh returns with 63.5 tackles and 15 TFL along with Junior Will Sadr had 17 TFL last year on the D Line and Senior Austin Moss at LB with 52 tackles
Casey it means a lot to play Riverside
Riverside visits Treynor — the Cardinals won last year’s game 42-8.
