(Atlantic) Atlantic senior girls’ tennis player Taryn O’Brien broke into the singles lineup this season and made the most of it in Atlantic’s 8-1 win over the Knights on Friday. After playing mostly doubles one year ago, O’Brien earned the number three singles spot and defeated Rachel Laly of Kuemper, 8-4.
O’Brien admitted her serving was a key part of her game on Friday.
O’Brien teamed up with Sophia Rose at the N0. 2 doubles, and the duo downed Schuette/Hoyt of Kuemper, 8-1.
Atlantic Head Coach Mike McDermott says Taryn O’Brien didn’t have much experience playing singles at the varsity level, and came out and got a victory in both singles and doubles. He was also impressed with the way she served in the opener on Friday.
Atlantic hits the road this week with meets at Clarinda on Monday and at Harlan on Thursday.
