(Shenandoah) Shenandoah dominated the game against Atlantic, securing a decisive 20-4 victory in a high school baseball matchup on Thursday.
The Mustangs showcased their offensive power, scoring an impressive 20 runs on 13 hits, with 13 of those runs coming in a remarkable third inning that brought the game to an early conclusion. Teagan Brunk led the charge for Shenandoah, contributing a home run and a single. Levi Green also had a strong performance with two hits, while Tyler Babe added a two-RBI double along with a single. Joey O’Rourick contributed with two singles, and Zane McManus made a significant impact with another home run. On the mound, Logan Twyman secured the win, giving up four runs on five hits and recording five strikeouts over four innings.
On the other side, Zayden Parker was the standout for Atlantic, delivering two singles and scoring a run. Keston Schmitt made his mark with a three-run homer, and Paxton Pross hit his first home run of the season. Sawyer Tarrell also contributed with a hit for the Trojans.
The Mustangs had a rapid start, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Eli Cameron drew a lead-off walk, followed by Greene, who delivered a sharp base hit. Teagan Brunk then launched a home run, and Joe O’Rourick reached base on a hit, paving the way for Zane McManus, who also crushed a home run. The Trojans got on the board in the top of the second inning on Pross’s solo shot over left center.
The Mustangs took control of the game in the bottom of the third inning, sending an impressive 18 batters to the plate and scoring 13 runs on seven hits, extending their lead to 20-1. In response, the Trojans fought back with three runs in the top of the fourth. Cooper Woolsey started the inning with a walk, followed by Zayden Parker’s solid single. Keston Schmitt, facing a tense 3-2 count, crushed a three-run homer, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome, and the game was called after the fourth inning.
Shenandoah turns around and travels to Atlantic for a make-up game tonight.
