(Avoca, IA) — After double digit wins for 6 years in a row, AHSTW softball fell to just 5 wins last year. They have already exceeded that this year and is 6-9 after last night’s loss to #4 Missouri Valley. 7 of their losses have come to ranked conference opponents — the other two are to Harlan and Denison Schleswig. They have rotated three different pitchers — 8th grader Rilynn Madden had three starts and 8 overall appearances and had an 8.83 ERA. The two veterans are Senior Halle Goodman (6.72 ERA) and Junior Kendra Hansen (9.30 ERA) and Head Coach Katie Pace says they each bring something different to the table
Pace says that despite her youth, Madden has shown maturity in the circle and at the plate hitting a team leading .525 with 8 RBI. Pace says softball to Madden is a year round sport
Also for the Lady Vikes, Freshman Maebry Rice is hitting .452, 1 HR and 12 RBI; Sophomore Clara Pace .333 with 7 RBI; Junior Bella Lamp .359 with 7 RBI. Coach Pace is excited about AHSTW’s young core
AHSTW will visit IKM Manning tonight for a doubleheader, one of the games will be a make up. They will visit Riverside next Tuesday, coverage on KSOM.
