(Atlantic) Atlantic and Glenwood matchup tonight for the second time this season. The Trojans defended their home field with an 11-3 win on May 28, with eleven runs on seven hits. The Rams scored three runs on four hits.
The Trojans enter the contest with a 4-8 record, and Coach Block says they are not where they want to be. He admits they have played a strong early-season schedule. What Coach Block likes about his ballclub is their attitude and effort.
Atlantic Head Coach Nathan Block says the Rams are much improved, citing Glenwood’s win over Harlan on Monday and its 3-0 shutout of Clarinda on Tuesday.
The Rams are hitting .262, while Atlantic is batting .201. Atlantic has shown some power with nine home runs in the first thirteen games. Kale Jensen leads the team with four home runs, followed by Grant Petty with two, and Zayden Parker and Cooper Woolsey with one each. Gavin McLaren, who started the season with the team before leaving to prepare for football at South Dakota State University, accounted for the remaining home run. Coach Block noted that the hitting has been inconsistent, attributing it to solid pitching from opposing teams.
Offensively, the Rams are led by Max Koehler, hitting .424, Ben Carlo, hitting .344, and Benn Christiansen, hitting .321. Korbin Pelzer is hitting .303, and Graham Newberry is batting .243; each has one home run.
The game starts at 7:00 p.m. We will broadcast on 95.7 F.M. and offer audio-only on westerniowatoday.com.
