(Greenfield, IA) — Skip Eckhardt will become the new football head coach at Nodaway Valley High School. Eckhardt replaces Jack West who has left to take the football coaching position at Logan Magnolia.
Eckhardt is a veteran coach of around 40 years who will try to turn around the Wolverines football program which has seen a revolving door of coaches. Last season, Nodaway Valley got a win in week two which ended a 26 game losing streak — the program went winless in three straight seasons and is 1-31 in the last four seasons combined. The last winning season was 2011 when the Wolverines went 5-4.
Eckhardt is a former state champion at former Schleswig High School in 1984. He has also coached at North Tama, South Page, Davenport Central, North Scott, Davenport North, AGWSR, Crestwood and most recently with Shenandoah the last two years.
Eckhardt was inducted into the Iowa Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame this year.
