(Greenfield, IA) — The Nodaway Valley Boys Track and Field team is gearing up for a push towards districts on May 14. Head Coach Brett Welsch says that Sophomore Gabe Winkelmann is overcoming a little bit of sickness but has been improving. He ranks 3rd in his district in the 1600 behind Haven Weers of Tri Center and Emmanuel Grass of Red Oak; 4th in the 3200 and has some work to do in the 800 but Welsch says he is getting close where he needs to be
Two other sophomores are Titan Foster and Cassius Burnside in the sprints — with Burnside, Welsch says he has potential to go real low in the 100 meter dash
Of the relays, Welsch is focused most on the 4×800 and Distance Medley
Last night at Madrid, Winkelmann won the 1600 at 4:47.17 which is a season PR; the Sophomore was 2nd in the 3200 (10:30.22). Also for the Wolverines, Haden Colton was 3rd in the 400 (55.49); Cassius Burnside was 3rd in the Long Jump (18-09) and they finished 3rd in the Sprint Medley and 4×800 relays.
Next up for Nodaway Valley is the Griswold Co Ed Relays on Thursday.
