(Des Moines) Gas prices in Iowa ticked up slightly this week, with regular unleaded increasing by 1 cent to an average of $3.65 per gallon, according to AAA.
Global crude oil prices showed mixed movement. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude dropped $2.65 per barrel to $92.29, while Brent crude rose 65 cents to $95.16. For comparison, one year ago, WTI stood at $61.74 and Brent at $66.58.
As of Wednesday, Iowa’s average gas price sits at $3.65 per gallon, up 1 cent from last week and 66 cents higher than a year ago. The national average is $4.11, down 5 cents from the previous week.
Diesel prices in Iowa declined by 3 cents, bringing the statewide average to $5.07 per gallon. That’s significantly higher than last year’s average of $3.36, but still 57 cents below the current national average of $5.64.
At the Des Moines terminal, current rack prices are:
- $2.61 for U87-E10
- $3.01 for Unleaded 87 (clear)
- $3.64 for ULSD #2
- $3.77 for ULSD #1
- $2.31 per gallon for E-70
Natural gas prices fell by 13 cents this week at the Henry Hub benchmark, now sitting at $2.61 per MMBtu. Retail heating oil and propane prices for Iowa will resume reporting in October.
