(Iowa) The youth turkey season starts tomorrow (Saturday) and runs through Sunday, followed by four shotgun seasons which begin on Monday.
John Lorenzen, appearing on the KSOM DNR Show, says youth turkey tags are good for all four-gun seasons, so if the tag is not filled during the youth season, continue to take those youth out to hunt.
Lorenzen says for that reason, scouting will be important. He says get out and see where the birds are moving throughout the day, and go out in the evening before, and try to roost the birds.
Lorenzen explains that attracting a bird is much easier when you place yourself in a spot the bird already prefers.
