(Des Moines) Gasoline prices in Iowa saw an increase this week, rising by 12 cents from the previous week to an average of $3.43 per gallon, according to AAA.
Global crude oil prices experienced a notable rise this week:
- West Texas Intermediate (WTI) climbed by $9.32, reaching $99.86 per barrel.
- Brent crude saw a more modest increase of 20 cents, settling at $101.86 per barrel.
A year ago, WTI crude was priced at $71.61, while Brent crude stood at $77.78.
- As of Wednesday, regular unleaded gasoline in Iowa averaged $3.43 per gallon, marking a 12-cent increase from the previous week and a 33-cent rise from a year ago.
- The national average for gasoline on Wednesday was $4.06, up 8 cents from last week.
Iowa’s retail diesel prices remained stable at $4.85 per gallon this week, though it’s still $1.42 lower than the national average of $5.49. A year ago, diesel in Iowa averaged $3.43 per gallon.

- U87-E10: $2.49 per gallon
- Unleaded 87 (clear): $2.92 per gallon
- ULSD#2: $3.50 per gallon
- ULSD#1: $3.67 per gallon
- E-70: $2.30 per gallon
Heating Fuel Prices
- Natural gas prices at the Henry Hub are down 10 cents, now averaging $2.83 per MMbtu.
- Propane prices in Iowa are averaging $1.63 per gallon.
- The statewide average for home heating oil is $4.25 per gallon.
