(Atlantic) At Wednesday’s City Council meeting, the Council set a compensation package for the Wastewater Superintendent for the fiscal year 2026.
The City of Atlantic is preparing for a vacancy in the Wastewater Superintendent position effective April 4. Following the interviews, Travis Hansen—a Grade IV-certified operator—was selected. His certification exceeds the City’s Grade III facility requirements, providing added expertise to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant operations. Hansen takes over the reins from longtime Superintendent Tim Snyder, who is retiring.
The position’s salary is set at $90,954 for Fiscal Year 2026, based on the median from a regional salary survey to remain competitive while maintaining fiscal responsibility. Funded through wastewater fees, the role is a key leadership position responsible for plant operations, regulatory compliance, staff supervision, infrastructure management, budgeting, and emergency response, according to Atlantic City Administrator John Lund.
Lund says in line with City practice, the salary is reset to reflect current market conditions upon a department head transition.
