Pottawattamie County Man Convicted in Cold Case Murder
(Council Bluffs, IA) — A Council Bluffs man is convicted in a nearly 40-year-old murder case. It took a jury four hours to find Robert Davis guilty in the 1989 death of Barbara Lenz. He was her boyfriend at the time, and the last one to see her alive before she disappeared from Harrison County, Iowa. Davis was arrested a year ago after an Iowa Cold Case Unit investigation.
Man Sentenced After Hit-and-Run That Killed Clarke County Teen
(Clarke County, IA) — A man who fled the scene of a deadly crash with a horse-drawn buggy in Clarke County is sentenced to up to 12 years in prison. Prosecutors say 41-year-old Jacob Wright took off after the November 12 crash that killed 16-year-old Elmer Borntrager [[ BORN-tray-ger ]]. Wright’s guilty plea came as part of a deal that dismissed an involuntary manslaughter charge.
Iowa Attorney General is suing a healthcare technology company
(Des Moines, IA) — The state of Iowa is accusing a healthcare technology company of violating consumer fraud and personal information security laws. A lawsuit says a hacker breached Change Healthcare’s system in 2024 and wasn’t detected for ten days. The hacker stole Social Security numbers, medical records, and other sensitive information, affecting more than 2 million people. The suit says the company failed to notify those affected for five months after the breach.
Two More 2026 Iowa State Fair Grandstand Acts Announced
(Des Moines, IA) — The Iowa State Fair has added two more acts to its Grandstand lineup. BigXthaPlug will perform Saturday, August 22, and Staind, with special guest Hoobastank, will take the stage Monday, August 17. Tickets for both shows go on sale Friday.
